Qatar Airways has announced the signing of an interline agreement with Sky Express, with immediate effect.
The agreement will enable Greek passengers outside of Athens to travel seamlessly between Greece and Doha and onwards to destinations in Asia, the Middle East and Australasia.
Qatar Airways’ passengers will benefit from access to 24 exciting new destinations in Greece including Santorini, Crete, Corfu and many other destinations on Sky Express’s domestic network.
Qatar Airways Group chief executive Akbar Al Baker said: “With the largest domestic network in Greece, this agreement with Sky Express significantly increases our ability to connect global travellers with iconic destinations throughout Greece and reinforces our commitment to supporting the nation’s tourism industry.”
Sky Express chief executive officer and president Theodoros Krokidas said: “Sky Express is very pleased for this new collaboration with such a well-respected carrier as Qatar Airways.
“This agreement allows all 32 Greek destinations operated by Sky Express to connect seamlessly with Qatar Airways’ global network across Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa.
“This way opening up new commercial opportunities, thus offering passengers a whole new range of destinations.”
Qatar Airways has been operating to Athens since June 2005, and in 2015 increased its service to the Greek capital from twice daily to three times daily to meet growing demand.
In 2018, the airline added Thessaloniki and Mykonos as its second and third gateways to the idyllic Mediterranean nation.
Currently, Qatar Airways operates a modern fleet of more than 250 aircraft via its hub, Hamad International Airport (HIA), to more than 160 destinations worldwide.
The world’s fastest-growing airline has added a number of exciting new destinations to its growing network this year, including Rabat, Morocco; Izmir, Turkey; Malta; Davao, Philippines; Lisbon, Portugal; Mogadishu, Somalia; and Langkawi, Malaysia.
The airline will add Gaborone, Botswana, in 2019 to its extensive route network along with Luanda, Angola; and Osaka, Japan, in 2020.
Sky Express is the fastest growing airline in Greece today, operating more than 30,000 flights per year, to 32 destinations throughout Greece.
