With a jewel of a view overlooking the Bosphorus, Çırağan Palace Kempinski Istanbul’s Laledan Restaurant has curated a new lunch and dinner menu under the concept “Pasta and More”, showcasing fresh pasta and classic Italian flavours.

Sicilian chef Giovanni Vaccaro hand-picked delicious Italian dishes for this brand-new menu in collaboration with Sezai Erdoğan, executive chef of Çırağan Palace Kempinski Istanbul.

Chef Vaccaro visited Istanbul for a month to share his 20 years of experience and secrets of Italian cuisine with Laledan’s chefs.

With years of service as chef de Cuisine at some of the world’s most reputable luxury hotel chains to his name, he has also opened a renowned Italian restaurant in Luxembourg.

Chef Vaccaro crossed paths with Ralph Radtke, general manager of Çırağan Palace Kempinski, during his time as chef, and he has visited Çırağan Palace Kempinski Istanbul and participated actively at Italian food festivals in previous years as well

The Pasta and More concept originated from the new pasta production room at Çırağan Palace Kempinski, which produces the menu’s star item – fresh pasta.

 Popular pasta types like penne, rigatoni, spaghetti, pappardelle, tagliatelle, fettuccine, cavatelli and fusilli are freshly handmade and then paired with a range of delicious sauces, creating dishes like cavatelli with shrimp and mussels; spaghetti alla chitarra with lobster; rigatoni with gorgonzola sauce and walnuts; tortellini with pine nut gorgonzola sauce, sautéed eggplant, spinach and ricotta; mezzelune with shrimp; casonsei with grated pecorino, beef and almond bundle; tortellini with crab; and a succulent lasagna with beef, fish and vegetables – sure to satisfy cravings for authentic, fine Italian cuisine here at Laledan.

More than Pasta

In addition to pasta, the Pasta and More menu serves up indispensable Italian favourites with its starter, main course and dessert selection.

The enticing breadbasket offers Sicilian sesame bread, the famous olive oil focaccia, Italian-style cornbread, polenta, and grissini, along with natural olive oils flavoured with basil, rosemary, thyme and hot pepper, served as soon as guests arrive at the table. Starters include zucchini tempura stuffed with ricotta, swordfish carpaccio with fried aubergine and basil greens, sour octopus salad, and an Italian delicatessen plate.

The risotto is another star item, featuring flavour variations from sautéed calamari and ricotta cheese to risotto with grated parmesan and Taleggio cheese, waiting to be tasted.

Delicious meat and seafood selections feature a variety of fish including sea bass Italian-style and marinated grilled tuna, plus veal fillet tournedo tagliata and chicken fillet stuffed with mushrooms, to name a few. The menu also includes vegetarian options.

The most delicious and popular Italian desserts are also offered with Pasta and More, including the traditional Italian candied cassata with caramelised pecans and cranberries; panna cotta with vanilla and fried pepper; Italian Amaretti cookies; a hazelnut dome with coffee biscuits; lemon tart with caramelised peanuts; and almond ice cream and berries over a sabayon, a light sauce used for desserts in Italy. Not to be missed is the must-have Italian classic, tiramisu, uniquely presented by chef Vaccaro with green pistachio biscuits and raspberries.

The drinks menu includes classic Italian cocktails, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, and top-quality wines from the various regions of Italy, including Tuscany, Sicily, Piedmont, Umbria and Veneto, to name a few.

Richly flavoured Italian espressos like caffè doppio, caffè ristretto, mochaccino and caffè macchiato are offered.

For those, who desire after-dinner cocktails, Tiramisutini with mascarpone cheese, Espresso Martini, Chocolate Martini, and alcoholic coffees like Caffè Corretto made with grappa, an Italian drink of distilled grape pulp, are also served.

Fresh pasta from Pasta and More and some menu-specific flavours are also presented at the famous Çırağan brunches offered every Sunday at Laledan.
