The Diani Reef Beach Resort and Spa in Kenya’s Kwale County, has been awarded the prestigious five-star hotel rating by the Tourism Regulatory Authority.
The Authority awards the five-star rating to hotels, lodges, camps and other facilities in the hospitality industry, which offer quality service and world-class amenities to guests.
Tourism Regulatory Authority director general Kipkorir Lagat says Diani Reef Beach Resort and Spa was awarded the five-star rating following a classification exercise in February.
Mr Lagat notes that the exercise was conducted in the coastal counties of Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi, Taita Taveta and Lamu between February 3 and 17, this year.
Diani Reef Beach Resort and Spa managing director Bobby Kamani was over the moon following the good news that the resort had been awarded a five-star rating by the Tourism Regulatory Authority.
He attributed the enviable recognition to the resort offering quality service to guests, superb accommodation, an iconic luxury spa, among other classic amenities, which make holidaymakers feel at home once they check in at the beach hotel.
In a press release to the Travel and Tourism Daily, Mr Kamani remarked thus: “The Diani Reef family is once again in celebration after our resort was awarded the fiver-star rating by the Tourism Regulatory Authority.
“We are very grateful to our team, and credit the achievement to their tireless efforts in making sure guests get quality service for them to feel at home while staying at our luxury property.
“In 2018, we invested heavily in refurbishing the hotel’s public areas and other amenities, while our team received training for them to provide quality service to guests.”
The hotelier noted that the resort was voted Africa’s leading beach resort in 2018 by the World Travel Awards, an accolade, which has put Diani Reef Beach Resort and Spa on the world map.
The resort, he added, has once again been nominated for Africa’s leading beach resort and Kenya’s leading beach resort for 2019 by the World Travel Awards.
“We are fully committed to investing in maintaining the high standards of our property for us to continue to offer quality service to our guests,” he added.
“Our conference facility is among the largest at the Kenya coast, enabling us to handle both local and international meetings and events to the satisfaction of organisers and delegates.”
Last year, the iconic hotel located in Kenya’s South Coast was voted Africa’s leading beach resort 2018 by the World Travel Awards after beating 12 other hotels in the category.
The resort has a luxury spa, a state-of-the art conference facility, quality accommodation and strategically positioned on Diani beach, which was named Africa’s leading beach destination for the sixth time in a row by the World Travel Awards in 2018.
Since 2013 to 2018, Diani beach has been scooping the prestigious global award after overcoming fierce competition from other African beach destinations such as Sharm El Sheikh from Egypt, Cape Town from South Africa and Zanzibar.
The Kenya’s best beach has over the years been retaining the global award due its stunningly beautiful white-sand, the crystal clear turquoise waters, lush green surroundings and clean environment.
